HISTORICAL

French film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and film critic(1932-1984).

Truffaut’s attacks on established filmmaking techniques both paved the way for and pioneered the movement known as the Nouvelle Vague (New Wave). The style he helped to originate is characterized by its visual spontaneity and narrative discontinuity while following themes usually dealing with love, children, writing or death.
He was nominated for 1 Academy Award as director and another 2 as a writer.
Three of his films made it to our All-Time Best Films list.
