The Coen brothers follow a struggling folk young singer in the 1960’s, who, relying on the kindness of friends and strangers, embarks on an odyssey from the street of Greenwhich Village to a Chicago club in search for the big break he needs to make a name for himself in the music world. The Coen brothers creates a heartfelt sentimental film that works as a character study touching themes of unrealised ambition and the nature of fate and failure using gorgeous cinematography and sound, however the narrative is presented in such a way that the audience may feel that nothing is happening on the screen.
