American film director, writer, and visual effects artist (born 1950).
Initially known for his work in visual effects eventually he became involved directing high profile family-friendly films until selected to direct an adaptation of the Marvel comic Captain America. This period film became the template that paved the way for the first Avengers film.
He won 1 Academy Awards for his work in visual effects.
