Comedy Romance Silent Film

Chaplin features his penniless character The Tramp who, after being mistakenly chased by police, stumbles into a traveling Circus performance and becomes the star of the show where he falls in love with the horse rider and attempts to impress her and compete for her attention.
Chaplin mixes spontaneous humor with melancholic touches to create a highly personal film where failure and mortification are only ever a whisker away from success and laughter using a rather thin plot story. It won 1 honorary Academy Award.
