British Director, Comic actor , Producer and Composer (1889-1977)
Recognized as a worldwide icon from the silent era for his character The Tramp, he developed classic films characterized for slapstick combined with heartbreak showcasing social and political themes with some autobiographical elements. Chaplin used the actions and mise-en-scène as his storytelling tools establishing himself as one of cinema’s most influential filmmakers and stars.
He received 2 honorary academy awards as a filmmaker and one for a musical score and several other nominations as actor , producer and screenwriter .
