The American Friend

Director Wim Wenders follows an amoral American art dealer who after entangling a terminally ill German everyman in a ever-deepening murder plot for extra cash develops an unlikely bond with him while the scheme goes sour. Wenders adapts a popular novel into an existential thriller exploring themes of friendship and desperation with his characters, suggesting an allegory with the relationship between Germany and the US , however the plot at some points becomes slow and hard to follow .
