Japanese Psychological Crime Thriller Drama Mystery Film

[Original Title: Rashômon]
Director Akira Kurosawa follows the story regarding the murder of a Samurai and the rape of his bride as contradictingly recalled from the perspectives of a bandit, the bride, the samurai's ghost and a woodcutter. This eloquent masterwork and international sensation revolutionized film language and introduced Japanese cinema to the Western world. Kurosawa creates a riveting psychological thriller featuring an innovative narrative structure, brilliant acting, and a thoughtful exploration of reality versus perception that investigates the nature of truth and the meaning of justice although the pacing and subject may appear dragging and dry to a contemporary audience ).
It won 1 Honorary Academy Award and was nominated for a regular one.
