Director Pedro Almodovar follows a grief-stricken nurse who after losing her teenage son in an accident sets out to search for the boy’s long-lost father, now a trans woman, encountering a set of interesting characters that awaken her to a new maternal role. Almodovar creates an emotional melodrama with outrageous characters and situations that explore the meaning of motherhood and the trials and tribulations of LBGTQ life.
It won 1 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
