Pedro Almodóvar

Acclaimed as one of the most internationally successful Spanish filmmakers, Almodóvar and his films have gained worldwide interest and developed a cult following . His films are marked by melodrama, irreverent humor, bold color, glossy décor, quotations from popular culture, and complex narratives usually following themes dealing with desire, passion, family, and identity.
He has been nominated for 1 Academy Award as director while winning one as a writer, and one of his films won an Award for Best Foreign Film while another two have been nominated. Two of his films made it to our All-Time Best Films list.
