He usually works directing as a team with his wife Valerie Faris. They are influenced by their early work in music videos and usually tackle themes around relationships focusing on the story and the characters .
They won the Independent Film Award for Directing once and have been nominated for DGA and BAFTA directing awards.
One of their movies made it to our All-Time Best Films list , Little Miss Sunshine .
