Alfred Hitchcock

He is one of the most influential directors in the history of cinema nicknamed the master of suspense. He was a visual storyteller , used mise-en-scene to build suspense, and likeness of characters, with themes revolving about obsession, morale, death and guilt. He put an emphasis on psychological characterization , and try to build tension by using contrasting situations. He used the camera as if it had human qualities, panning as if looking around and then closing up on objects to emphasize plot elements. He was nominated for Best Director five times at the Academy Awards but never won . However his films garnered 46 nominations with 6 wins.
