Crime Drama Romance Musical Film

Robert Wise and co-director Jerome Robbins adapted a Broadway musical that updates Romeo and Juliet to a contemporary setting where two youngsters from rival New York City gangs fall in love, but tensions between their respective friends build toward tragedy.
The unique adaptation of Shakespeare , the performances, and some of the songs make this musical worth to be in our All-Time Best Films but the issues that it deals with probably could have been treated with more depth .
