George Stevens follows a dancer/ gambler who challenged by his fiancé’s father to raise 25K to prove his worth moves to NYC looking for fortune but ends up meeting a dancer and teaming up for the opportunity for a performance act at an elegant nightclub while getting his feelings confused towards the wedding . Stevens creates a high production quality platform to display Astaire and Rogers legendary dance performances even though the plot is rather thin and it contains a scene considered racist for today’s standards .
It won 1 Academy Award and it was nominated for another one.
