David Lynch

He is one of the important film-makers of the current era sometimes labeled the first popular surrealist. Lynch usually displays a deep fascination with the utterly grotesque residing just below the surface of the everyday and he seems to purposely defy conventions - as well as the traditional narrative structure.
He won an Honorary Academy Award and has been nominated for 3 Academy Awards as a director and 1 as a writer.
