Nolan tells the tale of two rival magicians in late-Victorian London who, after a tragic accident involving an assistant , engage in a bitter competition to uncover the other’s trade secrets that risks to become a fatal obsession.
Nolan blends narrative, character and emotion to create a clever film that presents itself as a magic trick dealing with themes of obsession, ambition, and sacrifice for work/art. It was nominated for 2 Academy Awards.
