Director Ingmar Berman follows a young nurse who after being put in charge of a well-known stage actress that suddenly stop talking , finds herself experiencing a strange emotional convergence with her patient. Bergman creates an intense, challenging and complex experimental psychological drama that explores the human condition with intense curiosity, immense technical skill, and warmth; however it may not sit well with all audiences as it’s not really designed to be understood.
